A few weeks ago, the varsity lacrosse team's junior class, led by Peter Pickard, launched a fundraising effort in anticipation of the team's game against Governor's Academy to raise money for breast cancer awareness. The boys decided they wanted to wear pink during the game at Harvard Stadium, which was part of the Boston Cannons' "High School Rivalry Series," and set a goal of $6,000. They soon surpassed that benchmark and raised the goal to $25,000. As donations kept coming in, that wasn't enough either, so they raised the goal to $50,000, which they reached just before game time, and the numbers keep climbing.
For leading the team's efforts, Peter was recognized by the Boston Cannons as one of five "High School Heroes."
The team is also very excited to announce that the Arrows have been invited to the Geico High School Lacrosse Nationals in Washington, D.C., which will air on ESPN over Memorial Day weekend. They'll be the #3 seed and will play St. Anne's-Belfield of Virginia on Sunday, May 28 at 5 pm. Learn more about the tournament at www.geicolax.com.
