Art Projects

Memory Project
Students in all grades paint portraits of young people from developing countries that are delivered to the students. Countries that students have created art for include Haiti, Malaysia, and Peru.  

Avita Memory Care Art Initiatives
Students in grades 10 and 11 travel to local memory care residential facilities one time each quarter. Students lead workshops with the residents in music, art, and theatre.  

Community Projects 

Father Bill’s Food Pantry
Students prepare and deliver sandwiches to Father Bill’s food pantry. Father Bill serves families in need throughout the South Shore. 

Partnership with San Miguel 
Service opportunities include backpack packing, Homecoming, Christmas Book Drive, Annual field day in July. 

Pope John Paul II Field Days 
St. Sebastian’s hosts field days for students from grades 5 through 8 during the second week in June. 

Immersion Projects 

During March break, Immersion Projects have also taken place. In past years, students have traveled to Haiti and New Orleans, as well as participating in an Urban Immersion in Boston. 

Senior Service Program 
Beginning in mid-April, each senior is required to commit a significant number of hours to service in the community. The work done at the placement site must involve consistent one-on-one contact. Through weekly discussion groups, seniors are required to reflect upon the meaning of their experience, and to articulate those reflections in an oral presentation.

At the conclusion of their service period, the entire senior class gathers in the Chapel to share their stories with one another and with the faculty. This morning of oral presentation often ranks among each senior’s finest hours.

After School Tutoring at St. Pope John Paul II Academy 
Every Wednesday of the school year, the students travel to Lower Mills section of Dorchester to tutor and mentor elementary students of St. Pope John Paul II Academy. 

Catholic Charities food packing 
Each Saturday, members of the National Honor Society help prepare bags of food that are brought to Catholic Charities food distribution center in Dorchester.

Every Wednesday of the school year, the students travel to Lower Mills section of Dorchester to tutor and mentor elementary students of St. Pope John Paul II Academy. 

Miracle League of Massachusetts 
Students assist young adults with disabilities as they play baseball on Saturday mornings. This event is held twice in the fall, and twice in the spring in Acton, MA.

Annual Cradles to Crayons Needham Clothing Drive
Lower School students lead the community clothing drive and deliver clothes to Needham High. Students then help at the community sorting drive, typically the first week of April.

Cor Unum Christmas Toy Drive 
Students collect Christmas presents for this annual toy drive that benefits families in need in the Lawrence Area.
