Independent School League

St. Sebastian’s School has been a member of the Independent School League (ISL) since 1973. Composed of 16 day and boarding schools in the Greater Boston area, the ISL is the oldest Independent School athletic association in the United States and one of the most competitive in the country.

The ISL's sixteen members compete in eighteen sports in the New England Prep School Athletic Conference (NEPSAC). All member schools embrace a longstanding commitment to the exclusive use of need-based financial aid. As a result, there are no athletic or other merit-based scholarships.

Independent School League Sportsmanship Creed

Striving Together through Athletic Competition to Achieve the Highest Degree of Integrity, Sportsmanship, Fair Play, and Mutual Respect in Preparation for Good Citizenship and Leadership in Society.

Guidelines for Appropriate Conduct at Athletic Events

By Players:
Players shall comply fully with the rulings of the officials. In no way, either by voice, action or gesture, shall they demonstrate their dissatisfaction with the decisions made. Players must never forget that they represent their school.

By Spectators:
ISL schools do not tolerate any spectator, either student or adult, whose behavior is disrespectful toward players, officials, coaches or other spectators. Nor will they permit any type of spectator behavior that detracts from the proper conduct of the game or disadvantages a player or team.
