The defense was equally impressive all afternoon, containing the Governor’s offense. D-Linemen Jordan Atkinson, Quincy Pickett, Ryan Donovan and Liam Barbosa, along with Linebackers Landon Bailey and George Kelly, brought pressure all afternoon. Charlie Hoffman, Zion Simmons, and AJ Lysko anchored the secondary. The team travels to Nobles next.

The Varsity Soccer team had two wins during the week. The Arrows defeated NEPSAC opponent Austin Prep 6-0, then travelled to Nobles with an impressive 4-1 victory to begin their ISL schedule.

Austin Prep game

First half was 4-0 with goals coming from the following players: Alex Perkin with a very unselfish assist from Jack Mulka; Brendan Schmidt—shot from distance that snuck through the goalie’s hands; Griffin Collins—calmly slotted the ball near post after collecting a long ball; Timmy Weiss—got his first goal of his Seb’s career striking a onetime ball into the bottom left corner.

The second half saw Seb’s take control of the game through their possession, while adding two more goals: Alex Baynes—knocked home a rebound off of a Seb’s corner; Alex Perkin scored his second when he coolly chest controlled a long throw then expertly shot back across the goalie into the side netting. Both goalies played 45 minutes. They did well to control their area and distribute the ball well.

Nobles game

First ISL game of the year. Both teams looked to get an early foothold, physical play on both sides. Seb’s scored the first two goals of the first half. Kellan Kilmartin saw his free kick from 40 yards out sneak into the back post without being touched. Matt Malloy doubled the lead after Brendan Schmidt coolly laid off a nice pass to Malloy. Alex Perkin picked up his 3rd of year when the ball found him on the back post alone. He took one touch then placed home. Nobles got one back after their free kick snuck through the Seb’s goalie hands into the net. Jack Mulka finished the game off with a PK of his own in the 90th minute. A gritty performance from the Seb’s boys.
