Arrows Win St. Sebastian's Holiday Hockey Tournament

Arrows Win St. Sebastian's Holiday Hockey Tournament
The varsity hockey team capped off a great weekend by capturing the St. Sebastian's Holiday Hockey Tournament when they defeated Northwood 4-3. The tournament was a three day event with the Arrows beating Winchendon 5-1 on Friday and Albany Academy 3-2 on Saturday. Northwood School (Lake Placid, NY) had won 23 consecutive games prior to the championship tilt and the game did not disappoint all of those who attended. Although the first period was low in scoring it did not lack action. James Davenport '19 connected late in the period to give the Arrows an early lead. In the second period, Northwood struck in the first minute before Jack Hughes '22 redirected a Thomas Messineo '21 shot from the blue line. Northwood tied the game once again before the end on the second period to knot the score at 2. Five minutes into the third, Jayden Struble '20 sent a laser into the top corner to give St. Sebastian's the 3-2 lead before Northwood responded on the power play with eight minutes to play. Three minutes later, the Arrows were awarded a power play and Davenport struck again from a nice feed from Tommy Lyons '19 to go ahead 4-3. Great goaltending by Luke Garrity '20 and outstanding defensive play cemented the championship and an outstanding weekend for the Arrows.
