Ninth grader, Andrew MacDougall ’27 is taking the sports photography scene by storm. A member of our Sports Media Club, Andrew has been honing his photography skills all year. This past week, varsity baseball and lacrosse competed in ISL tournament games with our baseball team securing the ISL championship. These tournaments were the perfect opportunity for Andrew’s skills to shine.
Andrew submitted his photos of baseball and lacrosse to the Boston Globe. Not only was one of his lacrosse shots selected for the Globe’s Saturday coverage, but the Globe used his shots of baseball as the main lead art for Sunday’s coverage. Six of his images were selected for the Student Photojournalism Program, and the Founder of Headliners in Education, John Vitti, had his own praise for Andrew:
“When it came time for me to put together the weekly photo gallery last night, I had the usual tough choice of which pic from all your excellent submissions should I go with in the lead spot. I ended up choosing another Andrew pic, this one of lacrosse, this one from Wednesday, of two St. Seb's players taking off in celebration. When it came time to putting together the photo gallery, I chose 23 in all -- six from Andrew, his week was THAT good.”
Congratulations, Andrew, on this well-deserved praise. We can’t wait to see what you do with your camera next!
