On Tuesday, February 8, Mr. Jay Wu hosted the 7th installment of St. Sebastian’s Faculty Zoom Seminar Series. What began as a way to productively pass the time during the lockdown era in May of 2020, has turned into a regular event featuring our esteemed faculty across all disciplines hosting a deep dive seminar into a topic of their choosing. Unlike previous presentations we have hosted, Mr. Wu escorted attendees on a deeply personal journey through his lifelong relationship with art, “A Personal Quest, A Discussion on One’s Artwork, Its Evolvement, and Influences.” Although many people know Mr. Wu as a math teacher, his academic credits include both a BA in Mathematics and Studio Art, an MA in Secondary Mathematics, and an MFA in Painting from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia. His artwork has been featured in numerous group and solo exhibitions throughout New England. Over 60 people joined the Zoom for this exposition of his process and his art. Mr. Wu’s seminar was truly an escape from the noise of today’s world to a place of peace and beauty. If you were unable to attend, you are welcome to view the recording of the seminar. Thank you, Mr. Wu!
