Arrows Perform in Annual Shakespeare and Macbeth Competitions

The Shakespeare Competition took place on Tuesday, December 4. Students in grades 9-12 were invited to perform a speech from one of the Bard's plays in front of faculty judges Mr. Rogers, Mr. Deschenes, and Ms. O'Luanaigh, aiming to demonstrate their acting prowess and memorization skills. Participating Arrows competed to be the St. Sebastian's representative at the regional semifinals of the ESU's (English Speaking Union) national high school competition held at Mt. Ida College. Alessandro Barbiellini '21 was selected to represent St. Sebastian's for the second year in a row.

On Thursday, December 13, the sophomore English classes congregated in the McCulloch Room for the annual Macbeth Competition. The students competed for the prize of being the witchiest weird sister, the most ghostly poor player, or the greatest gory-locked Banquo. Ultimately, the panel of judges, comprised of Mr. Lynch, Mr. Rogers, and Mr. Calabro, awarded first prize to Matt Choi, Michael Phelps, Cam Collins, and Conor Mynahan. Individual acting awards were also given to Daniel Ko and Patrick Wade.

Thank you to all the students who participated in this year's Macbeth and Shakespeare Competitions.
