St. Sebastian's annual Vergilian Actus took place on Wednesday, April 30, 2025. Timothy Joseph, Professor of Classics at the College of the Holy Cross, led a discussion of Vergil's Aeneid as he presented questions to the students studying Latin IV Advanced Placement. Each student read a passage from the poem, answered grammatical questions, translated the lines, and offered reflections on Vergil's themes. Professor Joseph also asked group questions, such as whether Vergil’s description of Rumor was fitting for today’s world and whether the actions and suffering of Aeneas were worth it overall.
Students who participated were Cormac Anderson '27, Carson Arevian '26, Joseph Bachiochi '27, Alistair Cooper '26, Sebastian Culleton '26, Michael DeMatteo '26, Nolan Dunphy '26, William Finnegan '27, Oliver Manning '26, Anthony Marcucci '27, and Carter Mays '26.
