Project Team for West Campus Center Wins Award

Project Team for West Campus Center Wins Award

The Massachusetts Chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors honored the project team for St. Sebastian's new West Campus Center with its prestigious “Eagle” Excellence in Construction Award.  The magnificent renovation and expansion project was built by Bowdoin Construction, designed by Rob Olson and Associates, and managed by Hines Project Management. Bowdoin, along with the project team, was recognized for its outstanding craftsmanship.

The construction took place over an 18-month period in 2017 and 2018. The new facility adds 49,000 square feet of new construction and 21,000 square feet of renovated space to St. Sebastian’s. The Center features a 10-sided rotunda with large windows and custom maple acoustical wall and ceiling panels; two basketball courts, one of which has a balcony overlook; six squash courts; a wrestling arena that accommodates two mats and two sets of bleachers; locker rooms; administrative offices for athletics, admissions, development and communications, and archives; conference rooms; theatre/lecture space; and a new elevator. Exterior work included the construction of new synthetic turf fields for soccer and baseball, as well as new batting cages.

"There was a nice consonance during the entire project," shared Headmaster Bill Burke. "We ask our students and those who serve them to throw their hearts and souls into their work. That the Bowdoin Construction crew modeled and demanded hard work along the lines of excellence was a powerfully beautiful, self-evident truth."

Members of the project team, including St. Sebastian’s Facilities Manager Eric Ludwig, attended the 27th Annual ABC MA Excellence in Construction Awards at the Westin Waltham-Boston in Waltham on November 21. Congratulations to Bowdoin and the entire project team!
