On Thursday evening, September 26, parents of new students were welcomed in Ward Hall by faculty members, administrators, and fellow parents at the annual New Parent Dinner.
The cocktail reception gave guests a chance to chat with different members of the St. Sebastian's community and meet other incoming families. Fr. John Arens welcomed everyone and said grace before dinner was served.
Following dinner, Head of School Brendan Sullivan introduced William Wallace '25 who shared his experience at St. Sebastian’s with our incoming families. William recounted how much he has grown since he arrived as a 7th grader five years ago, both inside and outside of the classroom. He spoke about the strong relationships he has built with his teachers and his meaningful involvement in community service through the School's partnership with the San Miguel School in Providence. In closing, William thanked his parents for this amazing experience and told guests their sons would be feeling the same way when they are seniors.
Elizabeth Derenzo P’20,'22,'24,'27, President of the Guild of St. Irene, highlighted upcoming events for both the Guild and the Men’s Association, encouraging parents to volunteer and get involved as much as possible. Marie Carroll P’25,’28,'30 spoke about the importance of the Annual Fund and the powerful impact it has on the community. Head of School Brendan Sullivan offered closing remarks and a video of Homecoming from last year was shown to give new parents a sense of the Arrows spirit. Fr. John Arens then closed out the night with a blessing.
To all of our new parents, welcome to the St. Sebastian’s Family!
