Meyer Chambers Hosts Faculty Zoom Seminar

Meyer Chambers Hosts Faculty Zoom Seminar

In his 37th and final year at St. Sebastian’s, Music Ministry Director Meyer Chambers hosted our 12th Faculty Zoom Seminar on Tuesday, October 29. He was joined on the call by alumni, current parents, parents of alumni, grandparents and friends of St. Sebastian’s. This ongoing series features members of our outstanding faculty delivering a passion project seminar of their own choosing.

In this seminar, “The Last Lecture: Past, Present, and Future,” Meyer focused on “giving witness to what I have seen and heard, felt and experienced for almost 38 years–a very short history,” He engaged the audience with the story of his life journey from New Orleans to Boston and St. Sebastian’s. Meyer went on to share the formation of his faith and music career through a lifetime of Catholic education. From his early days at Corpus Christi primary school and St. Augustine High School to his undergraduate studies at Xavier University of Louisiana, followed by advanced degrees from Loyola University, New Orleans and The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. and coursework at Notre Dame University, he is steeped in the Catholic tradition. Offering thanks to St. Sebastian’s leaders over the years, including Fr. Riepe, Jack Birmingham ’59, Bill Burke, and Head of School Brendan Sullivan, Meyer shared a parting gift to the School, his original score of “St. Sebastian’s, Our Alma Mater,” which he premiered live on the call.

Thank you, Meyer, for your thoughtful presentation and most especially for your 37 years of service to St. Sebastian’s!
