Juniors Explore D.C. and Pay Respect on Veterans Day
Our Junior class recently returned from an exciting and meaningful three-day trip to Washington, D.C., where they explored our history, culture, and leadership through unique experiences. The students embraced the opportunity to come together while immersing themselves in the rich history of our nation’s capital.
- Day 1: The journey began with a visit to Mount Vernon, the home of George Washington, where students toured the historic mansion and learned about the first president's legacy. After dinner at the Hard Rock Café, the group enjoyed a guided night tour of Washington’s iconic landmarks, including the Washington Monument and memorials dedicated to Lincoln, MLK Jr., Vietnam, Korean, and WW2 memorials.
- Day 2: The Juniors toured the U.S. Capitol Building, gaining insight into the legislative process, followed by a visit to the National Museum of African American History & Culture and the Holocaust Museum, both of which offered profound lessons on resilience and humanity. They ended the day with dinner in Georgetown and a dessert banquet at their hotel where they heard from Seb's alumni that have lived and worked in DC.
- Day 3: The trip concluded with a visit to the Air and Space Museum and a moving experience at Arlington National Cemetery, where class president, Andrew Donovan and vice president, Tiernan Massenburg, participated in a wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. The day ended with visits to other important sites, such as the Iwo Jima Memorial and Kennedy gravesites.
This trip was not only educational but also deeply impactful. The Juniors returned home with a greater appreciation for our nation’s history and the sacrifices that have shaped it, as well as strengthened bonds with their classmates.
Thank you to all the faculty and staff who made this incredible experience possible!
