On the evening of January 25, nearly 100 parents of alumni gathered in Martin Hall to launch the Quinquennial Society, recognizing parents whose sons graduated in the past five years. As close as our graduates are after their time at St. Sebastian’s, parents also form lifetime friendships. The Quinquennial Society will be a fun and casual annual gathering to bring our most recent parents of alumni back to the place where these relationships were fostered.
Father John Arens offered a blessing highlighting the themes from the past 5 years; Wisdom, Harmony, Return, Faith, and Empathy. Headmaster Burke welcomed back parents sharing how happy we are to see them and how wonderful it has been to have so many Arrows back helping us in many areas of the community while on break from college. This desire to return to campus underscores what a special bond and brotherhood they will always share with each other and the community. He also touched upon the three things that he feels all people desire; the need for freedom, love, and unity. He ended his remarks by drawing two raffle prizes won by Susan Porter P’23 and Paula Lordi P’18’23.
Guests reminisced and reconnected while adorned in their favorite St. Sebastian’s gear. Many are excited to return in April for the annual Parent of Alumni reception and again next January for the second Annual Quinquennial gathering.
