Grandparents & Special Friends Day

Grandparents & Special Friends Day

We were delighted to welcome 240 grandparents and special friends to campus on Tuesday, April 26.  After two years of hosting this favorite annual event virtually, it was a wonderful sight to see our guests in person this year.

The day began with a lunch program in Ward Hall which included: a fitting prayer from Fr. Arens; remarks from Guild of St. Irene President Julie Mulvey P’17,’21,’26, Ryan Donovan ‘23, and Mrs. Amy Habib, grandmother of Declan Caroll ‘25; a musical performance of “Fly Me to the Moon” from students Ben Goffredo ’24, Andrew MacDougall ’27, and Derron St. Marie ’24; and a short “What’s in your quiver?” video presentation. Before heading to classes and Mass, Headmaster Burke reminded our guests of how often they are mentioned, prayed for and honored by their grandsons in Chapel and in the classroom and how pleased the staff and faculty were to have them with us for the day.

Special thanks to our Grandparents & Special Friends Day Co-chairs, Meredith Shachoy P’21, ‘25 and Darice Merageas ‘21, ‘24, and to the many Guild of St. Irene volunteers who were present to greet and serve our guests.
