Grandparents and Special Friends Day 2024

Grandparents and Special Friends Day 2024

Students welcomed a record number of over 345 grandparents and special friends to campus to experience a day at St. Sebastian's School on Tuesday, April 30.

The day began in Ward Hall with a welcome from event Co-Chairs Marie Carroll P'25,'28, Noel Stavaridis P'24,'25,'27 and Seton Spagnuolo P'25 and an opening prayer from Fr. Arens. After lunch, President of the Guild of St. Irene, Deneige Nash P'23,'25, said a few words and then turned the podium over to student speaker, Declan Carroll '25 who spoke about his school experience. Amy Habib GP'25,'28 followed with a few words.

Grandparents were then treated to a musical performance of J.S. Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No.3, performed by students Caleb Casiano '29, Luke Hiles '27, Rohan Ghatge '28, and Finn Govender '28, led by Music Director, Karl Grohmann. Headmaster Burke thanked the grandparents and special friends for their support and for being part of the St. Sebastian's community. Everyone then headed to visit classes before celebrating Mass with Fr. John Arens. The afternoon concluded with a dessert reception in the Burke Family Center.

A special thank you to the grandparents and special friends who visited, the students and faculty who made them feel so welcome, and the mothers of the Guild of St. Irene, who worked tirelessly to make the entire day, from registration to dessert, run smoothly.
