Faculty-Trustee Dinner Honors Mark Rogers and Rafi De-Jesus

Our annual Faculty-Trustee Dinner is a great opportunity for St. Sebastian's employees and board members to strengthen the bond that ties us and celebrate outstanding service to our School. On Thursday, November 10, Mark Rogers, Chair of the Fine Arts Department, and Rafi De-Jesus, Lead Cook and Sous Chef were honored for their 25 years of service to St. Sebastian's.

After faculty members and trustees had the opportunity to mingle during the cocktail hour in Ward Hall, the formal event began with a prayer from Fr. John Arens. In his remarks, Board of Trustees President Jim Elcock ’77, P’08 thanked the faculty and staff for all they do to support and build up St. Sebastian's.

Headmaster Burke followed and took the podium with words of praise for Mark and Rafi. He spoke of Mark with admiration saying, “A loving husband, a great father, and a pure educator, Mark exemplifies the spirit of St. Sebastian’s at our very best.”

In speaking about Rafi, Headmaster Burke praised his positive spirit, professing, “If your sky dims to a darker shade of grey, and nothing seems to be going right in your life, do yourself a favor. Make a beeline to our kitchen, and find Rafi, our pure-hearted gentle giant of infinite goodness and boundless positive energy.”

Mark and Rafi also each took the podium, giving heartfelt speeches of thanks to their fellow faculty members and respective families.

From all of us at St. Sebastian's, we thank Mark and Rafi for their many years of devoted service to our School. Congratulations to them both on joining the Wall of Honor!
