On Thursday, April 15, the Class of 2024 gathered for a day of prayer, reflection, and refreshment, as they participated in their Freshman Retreat in the West Campus Center. The retreat was led by Fr. Arens and the Religion Department, with special assistance by ten members of the Class of 2021. The retreat centered around the 2016 documentary, Gleason, which tells the inspiring story of former New Orleans Saints football player Steve Gleason, who was diagnosed with ALS at the prime of his career. During small and large group discussions, students reflected on different concepts discussed by the movie, including saintliness, fatherhood, and the human spirit. The retreat concluded with a celebration of the Eucharist and an invitation for students to pray for one another.
