Arrows Assemble Catching Joy Blessings Bags

On Thursday, September 23 St. Sebastian’s senior Maxwell Surprenant, along with a group of 7th and 8th graders he recruited, assembled 270 “blessing bags” for people in need as part of Catching Joy’s Blessing Bags Project. Each bag contained full-size shampoo, soap, deodorant, toothbrush, toothpaste, and a homemade heart card. Mrs. Gwendolyn Clark, representative of the Charles Street Historic African Methodist Episcopal Church, will distribute the hygiene kits to underserved schools and communities.

In 2008, Maxwell co-founded Catching Joy, Inc., a nonprofit that promotes volunteerism and acts of kindness beginning with kids, teens, and families. He organizes hands-on service projects to help share the responsibility and joy of giving.
