On Friday, December 15, the St. Sebastian's Community kicked off Christmas Break with a festive Christmas program, celebrating the season with song and scripture.
During the first part of the program, Fr. John Arens provided an opening prayer and students read scripture and the St. Sebastian's Schola, Mass Ensemble and Faculty Chorale performed several traditional Christmas pieces, including "Once in Royal David's City," "Joy to the World," and "Silent Night, Holy Night." Highlights of the program included a wonderful performance of "Please Come Home For Christmas" by the Faculty Band, which included Mrs. Kera Wiggin, Mr. Stefan Cressotti, Mr. Ben Brown, and Mr. Karl Grohmann and "Nutcracker -I. March II. Trepak" performed by the Chamber Ensemble.
The second half of the program continued with performances by the Jazz/Pop Chamber Ensemble. Songs included "It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas," "Underneath The Tree," "Do They Know It's Christmas," and a riveting performance of "Christmas Eve / Sarajevo." The students and faculty joined in singing "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing," always a crowd favorite.
Thank you to guest director and accompanist Mr. Thomas W. Nunan '11, Mr. Meyer Chambers, director of music ministry, Mr. Karl Grohmann, music teacher, and the students and faculty members who shared their musical gifts with our Community.
