A Historic First: St. Sebastian’s Hosts the Graves-Kelsey Tournament

On Saturday, February 8, St. Sebastian's School proudly hosted the Graves-Kelsey Tournament for the first time. The Burke Family Center welcomed our ISL rivals for a day of intense competition, as wrestlers battled for the league championship.

The Arrows delivered a strong performance, with twelve of fourteen wrestlers finishing in the top six of their respective weight classes. Captain Sawyer Bean ’26 led the charge, securing a second-place finish after a semifinal upset over the No. 2 seed. Ray Usechek ’29 also claimed second in his weight class, dominating his matches en route to the finals. One of the most thrilling moments of the tournament came from Declan Schwarz ’27, who took the No. 2 seed into overtime and clinched a dramatic last-second escape to secure his spot in the finals.

Additional top finishers included: Connor Martin ’29 – 3rd; Ryan Healey ’27 – 3rd; Carter Rich ’27 – 4th; TK Faria – 4th; Jack Powell ’28 – 5th; Nolan Wishart ’27 – 5th; Gus Baer ’27 – 6th; Henry Bowman ’28 – 6th; Victory Layevsky ’28 – 6th

With the entire team returning next season, the future looks bright for the Arrows wrestling program. Thank you to everyone who contributed, supported, and celebrated a great day of competition!
