Third Annual Thespis Festus

Third Annual Thespis Festus

St. Sebastian’s held its third annual Thespis Festus on Tuesday, May 19. The Thespis Festus is a Latin declamation contest conceived of and implemented by Liam Cunjak ’25. Anthony Marcucci ’27 and Joseph Ryan ’28 were this year’s student organizers. Mr. David Cornish, Mr. Josef Cressotti, and Anthony Marcucci ’27 served as the judges.

Twelve students volunteered to recite Latin passages from the Bible, history, mythology, and the regular canon of authors, such as Catullus and Vergil. Yet, students also recited Latin versions of the opening of Abraham Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address and a selection from The Hobbit.

Congratulations to our three winners:

Lukas Hiles ’27, Upper Division
Rohan Ghatge ’28, Intermediate Division
Nicholas Enslin ’31, Lower Division
