St. Sebastian’s Welcomes New Parents

On Monday, September 21, parents of new students were welcomed to St. Sebastian's in Ward Hall by faculty members, administrators, and fellow parents at the annual New Parent Dinner.  

The cocktail reception gave guests a chance to chat with different members of the St. Sebastian's community and meet other incoming parents. Fr. Chris Boyle welcomed everyone and said grace before dinner was served.  

Following dinner, Head of School Brendan Sullivan introduced Gus Baer '26, who shared some of his experiences with guests. Now in his senior year, Gus recounted his "firsts" as an incoming 8th grader, including fun and unique anecdotes about each of his teachers and coaches that made him feel a part of the community right away. It was a warm and welcoming speech that had everyone in attendance smiling broadly.  

Marie Carroll P’25,’28,’30, President of the Guild of St. Irene, and Eugene Van Biert P’26,’30, President of the Men’s Association, welcomed parents and encouraged them to get involved, highlighting Homecoming as an opportunity for both moms and dads to jump right in and volunteer. Dean of Enrollment Greg Wishart encouraged our new parents to be ambassadors for St. Sebastian’s by sharing their positive experiences with prospective families as their sons begin their journey at the school. Mr. Sullivan welcomed our new parents and introduced a video highlighting last year’s Homecoming, giving them a glimpse of the Arrow spirit. Father Boyle concluded with a closing prayer. 

To all our new parents, welcome to the St. Sebastian's Family!
