Engineering Club Explores MIT Nuclear Reactor Laboratory

Members of the Engineering Club visited the MIT Nuclear Reactor Laboratory on June 18 for a behind-the-scenes tour of the MIT Research Reactor in Cambridge. During the visit, students learned about reactor operations, the engineering principles behind the reactor's design, and the research, education, collaborations, and career opportunities associated with the facility. The tour also introduced topics such as nuclear engineering, radiation safety, and neutron-based research, while providing a unique perspective from MIT staff. Following the tour, club members had lunch at the Miracle of Science bar to discuss what they had learned and reflect on the experience.
