Robotics Team Wins Second Consecutive Design Award

Members of the St. Sebastian’s School FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) Robotics Teams traveled to Wentworth Institute of Technology on Sunday, February 15, to compete in a FIRST Robotics Massachusetts Qualifying Tournament against 29 other teams from the area.

Team 133 and Team 19556 each competed in every match at a high level. The competition was so fierce and of such quality at this competition that despite strong, consistent performances, both teams finished the day in 19th and 22nd place, respectively.

The highlight for Team 19556’s simple but effective design was hitting 13 of 15 shots from 10 feet away during the tele-op phase! The highlights for Team 133’s complicated but effective design were hitting 2 of 3 shots from long range during the autonomous phase and winning the Design Award for the second straight competition!

Team 133: Seth Janchar, Jay Liu, Wright Shinzawa, Constantine Mitrokostas, John Joyce

Team 19556: Jeffrey Welham, Cesar Hernandez, Michael Chizoba-Ayika, Tim Gavin, Patrick Dunn
