Volunteer Opportunities
The Guild and St. Sebastian’s School greatly appreciate your help volunteering with the many programs and events throughout the year. We look forward to your involvement!
Event Committees
Homecoming Mass & Dinner (Thursday, October 15)
Come and join new and returning parents at a welcome Mass in preparation for Homecoming. Mass is followed by dinner in Ward Hall. This is a terrific opportunity for you to meet other parents and to show your school spirit!
Homecoming (Saturday, October 17)
A great St. Sebastian’s School tradition. Help set-up, decorate, serve food, and sell “Arrows” gear, all while cheering on the Varsity teams.
Christmas Dinner & Auction (Saturday, December 5)
Definitely one of the highlights of the Christmas season and one of the events not to be missed! Volunteering takes place from fall until the day of the event and there are numerous ways to participate. A fabulous social event that brings our school community together for a Christmas celebration and fundraiser!
Grandparents’ Day (Tuesday, April 27)
A memorable day for all involved! Volunteer co-coordinators work with the Development Office to set-up, register, welcome, and serve lunch to grandparents who come to spend a day as “Arrows.”
Golf Outing (date to be determined)
A fabulous day of golf and lunch for members of the Men’s Association. Guild members volunteer to welcome and register the players at this eagerly awaited annual spring event.
Guild Closing Evening (Tuesday, May 25)
End of year gathering for Guild members to enjoy an evening together and recap our many successes. Outgoing senior mothers are recognized and thanked for their service to the Guild, and new board members are introduced.
General Committees
Bookstore
“Arrow” fashion is the way to go here at School as well as at home. Help to staff the Bookstore to keep our gear in stock and in style.
Care & Concern
Help send out Guild cards for healing, sympathy, and special occasions as needed to faculty and families within our School community.
Faculty Appreciation
Brighten the Teachers’ mornings by arranging for special treats to be brought in to honor their dedication and hard work. Usually a 3-4 time a year commitment.
Garden Committee
Use your creativity and love for flowers to enhance St. Sebastian’s School throughout the year. Maintaining planters and decorating for special occasions are just two of the rewarding projects for the enthusiastic horticulturalists!
Hospitality & Curator
Help get our monthly meetings off to a good start by arranging with Joe the coffee, tea, and sweet treats to eat before Guild meetings (also includes keeping and maintaining inventory of all Guild possessions).
Library
Assist Fr. Paris with the recording and cataloguing of books given by parents to the library in recognition of their sons’ birthdays.
Mass Mailings
Work with other volunteers to help with school-wide mailings of invitations, reminders, and other correspondence as needed. This is a great way to meet other mothers and help out the school.
Membership
Help get the Guild up and running by registering and organizing member information for easy reference for the Board and Committee Chairs.
Parent Class Representatives
Organize and host gatherings for mothers in your class to meet and build friendships. Events include morning coffees, Christmas cookie swaps, mom’s night out, and parents’ cocktail party.
PIN (Parent’s Independent School Network)
Be the St. Sebastian’s School representative at various ISL schools to discuss and share information on issues of mutual concern. There are six events in which to participate throughout the school year.
SPAN (St. Sebastian’s Parent Advisory Network)
Serve as a host family to a newly admitted St. Sebastian’s family. Be a contact and a resource for the family by welcoming them into the community and answer any questions they have regarding school life.
Sports Refreshments
Help our “Arrows” get fed and hydrated following their games. Organize and schedule refreshments to be brought by team parents for all fall, winter, and spring sports.
