Swim Team

The 2006-07 winter sports season at St. Sebastian’s saw a new group of Arrows competitors – swimmers. St. Sebastian’s and Dana Hall joined forces to launch a co-ed swim team for thirty-five swimmers, including nine Arrows. This is the first competitive swim team at the School in over 20 years.

The combined team was led by Coach Matt Craven, of the elite Shawmut Aquatic Club, and St. Sebastian’s math department faculty member Carla Callini. Practices were held daily at Dana Hall throughout the winter and nine meets were held between December and February. Competition included ISL rivals Milton Academy and Thayer Academy, in addition to other schools in the co-ed NEPSSA (New England Prep School Swimming Association).

The St. Sebastian's team was anchored by experienced swimmers Brendan McPartland '08 and James Kerwin '08, sprinter Jack Supple '10, and distance swimmers Ned Supple '09 and Owen Dunn '09. Other swimmers included the 200 free relay team of Tom Kelly '10, John Vanasse '10, Sean Sullivan '11, and James Connolly '11.
